The Vancouver Korean-Canadian Scholarship Foundation (VKCSF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing scholarships to qualified students with Korean heritage and/or a scholarly interest in Korean culture. In doing so, VKCSF hopes to encourage students with these qualifications and aspirations to contribute to the well-being of both the Korean community and the wider community of Canadian society.
Scholarship applications will be reviewed in the following capacities:
1. Academic record
Students' transcripts are reviewed for their academic achievements.
2. Intellectual competencies
Students' transcripts, their letters of intent, reference letters, and others are reviewed to gauge their intellectual competencies and promises.
3. Citizenship activities
Students' involvement in community-related activities is reviewed for their civic and cultural contribution.
4. Letters of reference
Letters of reference that accompany students' applications are reviewed on the basis of the referee's
familiarity with the applicant's academic and other relevant abilities, and the level of support that the referee has for the student.
5. Financial Needs
Students'
financial needs are considered in the review.
Submission of a copy of Notice of Assessment
(student's and/or parent(s)') is mandatory.
6. New Applicants
Given equal standing of merit, students who have not, previously, received VKCSF scholarships will be given
priority over those who have.
We request your assistance in conveying this information to your students.
They
will be able to find more information on our
website, www.vkcsf.org and we will begin
accepting applications in March 2012.
The application deadline
is June 15 (Friday), 2012.
