2018 Scholarship Application
for Post-Secondary School Students (Open)

The Vancouver Korean-Canadian Scholarship Foundation (VKCSF) is a charitable organization dedicated to providing scholarships to qualified students with Korean heritage or who are pursuing academic fields related to Korea. In so doing, VKCSF hopes to encourage and empower students to contribute to the betterment of the Korean-Canadian community, and of the broader community of Canada. Since the Foundation was established in 1999, it has awarded $934,600 to 714 students. VKCSF Scholarships will be awarded in amounts ranging from $2,000 to $5,000, to students who show excellence in academic achievement, community involvement and extra-curricular activities, and where appropriate, financial need.

Evaluation Criteria

VKCSF awards scholarships to students who demonstrate the following:

(a) Excellence in academic or vocational training;
(b) Active involvement in the community and/or other notable extracurricular
activities; and/or
(c) Financial need (IF APPLICABLE).

If there is no financial need, only (a) and (b) will be considered.

Eligibility

Anyone who will be enrolled as a full-time student from September 2018 to April 2019, and meets the following criteria may apply:

(a) A Canadian resident (citizen or permanent resident) with Korean heritage, who will be attending:

(i) an accredited post-secondary institution in the GreaterVancouver area; or

(ii) an accredited post-secondary institution outside of the Greater Vancouver area, if he or she graduated from a secondary school in the Greater Vancouver area and has a parent whoresides in the Greater Vancouver area

(b) An international student with Korean heritage, who will be attending an accredited post-secondary institution in the Greater Vancouver area.

(c) A student without Korean heritage, who will be attending an accredited post-secondary institution in the Greater Vancouver area and is pursuing academic studies related to Korea.
